2012 - We were warned

A movie based on the Mayan prophecy of end times.Whew, what a roller coaster ride, thankfully humanity prevails ( best seen in theatres to appreciate all those effects). Oh my word, I embarrassed my family because I was screaming, I hope it never happens in real life. Scary stuff

Look what landed in my trees

Its been very hot these past two days. Sunday morning sat on the verandah to enjoy my cup of tea and was surprised to see these birds - I dont know what they're called as its the first time ive seen them .
We have some unusual looking birds visit our garden lately and I think its because their habitats have been destroyed. Thousands of acres cleared to make way for the new King Shaka airport. Such a shame!

                                   dashed inside for my camera ,he wasnt a bit concerned about me being there snapping away and even started showing off, he turned around,stretching his wings and posed like this for ages.

 

 

We enjoyed watching them and all the other smaller birds that are here everyday.

It was too hot  and humid to do anything so indulged in my favourites

 

                                     and enjoyed paging through this lovely book

Time to watch Lark rise to Candleford followed by Cranford on BBC entertainment. I love Judi Dench.

Shopping

Headed off to my favourite shop, Cotton Tales and purchased these lovely fabrics for my friendship quilt.Now I have to get cracking as Ive seen a course advertised that Im itching to do, New York Beauty.

Meet Jacqueline de Jonge

Several Quilt Markets ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Jacqueline de Jonge, the amazing designer of the Be Colourful patterns. Her foundation-pieced designs are full of rich, vibrant colors. I caught up with her in Houston at Quilt Market and asked her to be a guest blogger for us. She also gave me some of her patterns and a set of note cards to give away on this blog. Holiday

Fantastic 3 weeks in Cape Town visiting my daughter and sister for Christmas and New Year.The weather was perfect, hot and sunny everyday.Here are just a few photos. This lovely quilt hangs in the entrance of Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island Museum
